Over the "launch weekend," I had the pleasure of sitting Claudia, a nearly-14-year-old Dalmatian and one of the sweetest (and most insightful) dogs I've ever met. She sat beside me and my laptop as I once again attempted to bring to life these entries you now read. Suddenly, the words just starting pouring from me, so quickly that my fingers could barely keep up.
I don't know how or why Claudia guided me through my writing. I didn't ask her for help. I didn't tell her I struggled. I didn't even realize she was doing anything until she began to tell me about how she often brings inspiration to her human mom's artistic endeavors, too.Claudia's most important lesson for creative humans, she says, is to lead them to look deep within themselves--and not aim to mimic or compare their own work against other people's standards. Creativity is highly personal and unique. It comes not from the eyes or hands or mind, but from the heart. It is not taught or practiced, but discovered.
Thank you, Claudia, for blessing me with this wisdom.
