Roll with the Tides

When I woke up this morning, I'd been expecting to hear that food and gas prices had skyrocketed as a result of unrest in the Middle East, not that a massive earthquake had violently shaken Japan and catalyzed a devastating tsunami.  I had papers to grade and classes to prep for, and yet I couldn't tear my eyes away from the sheer horror I was seeing on CNN's online videos.

"Holly, what the heck is going on today?" I asked as she strolled past my office door.   Surely she'd be in tune with the magnetic shifts or other global phenomenon that my human senses were incapable of detecting.

Beats me, she replied nonchalantly.

"You don't know?"  How could she not know?

Nope.  Sometimes things happen and we just have to roll with the tides.

Quincy perked up and sauntered over.  She's right.  Humans always ask the wrong questions.

"But how could we not want to know what's happening?  So we could understand it better and warn people?  Or better yet, prevent it?"

That's not a problem you can figure out, Quincy explained, taking over the conversation since Holly seemed to have found too cozy a spot to curl herself up in.  This is an opportunity to send out love.

"Well of course I'll send love to the people who are affected.  But I still want to know what's going on with our planet."

There is no knowing with these things.  But there is always loving.  The world needs love right now.

Holly chimed in again from her chair.  I feel very sad for all the poor kitties who got wet and lost their homes.

Exactly, said Quincy.  It happened.  It can't be undone.  So we need to just feel, not know.

"Are you saying we shouldn't care about this?"

NO! they echoed emphatically.

Care about the people and the animals and the trees and everything else, Holly insisted.

Quincy completed the sentence.  Because love can shift a lot more than earthquakes.

Let's hope they're right.

So sad what is happening in Japan. Yes, we need to send love at least.

It makes my heart break for all in Japan. I agree they need all of our prayers and support now.

Have a happy SITS weekend.

We do need love! I don't watch the News. I only heard about the Quake from my sister who's Brother in law lives in Japan. We said many prayers, and are still praying!

Thank you for stopping by my blog on my SITS day!
