About Jill

Once upon a time, an introverted young girl spent way too much time in her back yard, engaged in secret, silent conversations with a Golden Retriever named Amber.  Today, a very-much adult Jill Ennis realizes these "whimsical wiles" of her youth involved something much deeper than her overactive imagination.  It took the heartwrenching loss of her cat, Molly, in the summer of 2007--and the surprising journey that followed--to rekindle Jill's childhood spark for and ability to connect with all things furry, finned, and feathered. Ever since, Jill has done all possible to ensure this gift will never again be packed away on a dusty shelf within her grown-up psyche.

An adjunct professor of communication by day (and sometimes by night), Jill spends much of her time outside of the classroom exploring the link between humans and animals, a link she believes is as fundamental as the human-to-human relationships she's so long studied.  Jill holds a master's degree in communication and rhetorical studies from Syracuse University and is a certified dog obedience trainer through the Animal Behavior College.  She is also a Certified Reiki Master and an advocate for animal welfare and natural/holistic wellness, and has been described by many four-legged creatures as a genuinely all-around fun person to know.

Jill's home in Syracuse, New York, is currently shared by two cats and one uber-cute-but-crazy pup.
